At the Dibal Foundation, we believe that a sustainable future starts at the grassroots level. To commemorate World Environment Day 2025, we were proud to partner with Aspira Nigeria Limited for a landmark sensitization outreach in the Tokarawa community of Kano State.
The Mission:
Plastic Waste Management Our theme for this year, “A sensitization of Tokarawa community women on plastic waste management for sustainable environment,” addressed a critical issue facing many urban and semi-urban communities today. Plastic waste is not just an environmental eyesore; it is a health hazard.
Why Women?
We specifically targeted the women of Tokarawa because they are the heart of the home and the community. By empowering them with knowledge on how to properly sort, dispose of, and recycle plastic waste, we are planting seeds of change that will grow within every household.

Partnership in Action
Collaborating with Aspira Nigeria Limited allowed us to go beyond just education. We were able to distribute hygiene products, including Viva Plus detergent, to the attendees. This served a dual purpose: incentivizing participation and reinforcing the link between a clean environment and personal hygiene.
The Impact
The turnout was inspiring. The women of Tokarawa engaged deeply with the training sessions, asking questions and committing to better waste practices. We look forward to monitoring the positive environmental changes in Tokarawa and replicating this model in other communities across the state.
Together, we are building a cleaner, greener Nigeria—one community at a time.
